According to many reports, including CM Punk's internet breaking interview on the Colt Cabana podcast, in the lead up to WrestleMania 30, there was no intention to have Daniel Bryan come out as WWE champion. Many fans believe that the behind the scenes brass at WWE thought Bryan was too small, too average looking and too weak on the mic to carry the company. Cleverly, when the WWE realized that fans would riot if Bryan didn't headline (and triumph) at Mania, the Authority turned the behind the scenes rumor into an on-air story line, claiming that the man who's real name is Bryan Danielson just didn't have what it took to carry the most prestigious title in all of wrestling (fine Vince, sports entertainment). The Yes Movement would have hoped that Austin would prod McMahon about the behind the scenes reluctance to give Bryan the push the fans wanted.
