6 Questions Stone Cold Steve Austin Failed To Ask Vince McMahon
2. Why Was The Call To End The Undertaker's Streak Made At The Last Hour?
The Undertaker's undefeated WrestleMania streak at the headline event was ended by Brock Lesnar at the 30th anniversary of the showcase event. Up until then, Taker was 21-0 at Mania, and many believed he would retire with his record intact. It's no understatement to say that the loss was one of the biggest moments in wrestling history, and every wrestling fan wants to know as much about what went on - in and out of the ring - as possible. So fans would have been glad that Austin asked McMahon about the streak. Unfortunately, Austin's limited line of questioning missed the point. Vince told the World that it was he who made the call to end the streak. The problem is, the World already knew that. He's Vince freaking McMahon, of course he made the call. What fans really wanted to know was when exactly the decision was made, and why so late? On Jim Ross' podcast Shawn Michaels claimed the call was only made on the night of WrestleMania 30, just moments before the match began. While there is no reason to doubt Michaels (he's never told a lie, right?), it would have been great to hear Vince talk about what was went on behind the curtain, and why there was a last minute change to one of the most important aspects of the business. Austin ashould have prodded the boss on why he called the audible on Taker's career. And that's not the only Phenom related question fans wanted an answer to.
