6 Things WWE Can Learn From Lucha Underground

3. Effectively Incorporating Intergender Wrestling

Take Some Cues From Lucha Underground
Lucha Underground

Lucha Underground is one of the first wrestling promotions to promote male and female wrestlers as equals. While other organizations generally have women confined to their own division, females can (and do) compete for virtually every title in Lucha Underground.

Let’s be honest, we all know wrestling is a work and having a male wrestler lose to a female won’t damage their credibility as a performer. Furthermore, we’ve seen that matches with females (like Sexy Star and Mariposa) taking on men can look quite believable.

Allowing females to compete for every title in WWE could make them even bigger stars. Think how big someone like Charlotte Flair could be with the Intercontinental or even World Championship. Moreover, this would allow for fresh feuds on Raw and SmackDown, thus alleviating the need have brand drafts or shakeups as frequently.

WWE started down the intergender road with Chyna several years ago, but have shied away from it since. Perhaps it’s time for the company to revisit the concept.
