6 Things WWE Have Done Right So Far This WrestleMania Season (And 6 They Haven't)

3. The Intercontinental Championship Situation

The current storyline around the Intercontinental Championship is an interesting one. On one hand, you have multiple people stealing the belt from Champion Wade Barrett and, despite being Champion, Barrett is on a losing streak, arguably devaluing the title by having its holder appear weak. On the other hand, the wrestlers involved in this match, which includes Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper and possibly Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler, are all very skilled athletes, two of whom are former World Champions and one of whom main evented last year€™s WrestleMania. As such, having so many skilled and talented Superstars pursuing the Intercontinental Championship is a very good way of keeping all of these men preoccupied, as well as increasing the value of the Belt. The biggest problem around the IC title is that its holder is not booked strongly, losing many non-title matches, which in turn leads to a €˜hot potato€™ effect of frequent title changes, in a similar vein as the WWF Championship in 1999. However, what would make sense going forward is for Barrett, despite losing in singles matches, to win the Ladder Match at WrestleMania, beating all of these challengers, including two of their most popular and most skilled Superstars in Bryan and Ziggler. So while the storyline might have its silly moments, at least there is widespread interest in the title.
