That segment with a little person "Daniel Bryan" on the 1 May edition of SmackDown would end up being a costly one for Big Cass. After berating the mock mini-Bryan and flooring him with a big boot, Cass climbed atop him and smashed him with a series of punches.

Those strikes weren't part of the plan, and they went against Vince McMahon's instructions.

McMahon was reportedly fuming when Cass went into business for himself. Earlier, Vince had refused claims from Cass that the skit needed something more than the boot to end it. WWE's social media and YouTube accounts then doctored clips of the attack, removed the offending punches and pretended they never happened.

Since then, Cass has been in the WWE dog house for going against company directives. Worse, he blatantly ignored the boss's plan and heaped nuclear heat on himself by arrogantly dismissing orders. This must have played at least some part in McMahon's decision to release him.
