6 Times Ronda Rousey Stirred The Pot For No Reason
3. Dying In Battle
UFC 170 advertised the bout between Sara McMann and Ronda Rousey as one featuring two Olympic medalists with similar records, which made it a little more difficult for ‘Rowdy’ to find her edge during pre-fight interviews.
She informed USA TODAY Sports, “On paper, she’s an amazing athlete, and athletically you could say we’re very close to equals, and that’s why people are excited about this fight. But I think I’m more of a fighter than she is.”
All was well and good at this point. They were both similar fighters, but Rousey had that confident attitude and wanted everyone to know she was the best.
But then she added, “I can tell that the title is not as important to her as it is to me.”
OK.
“She has a kid at home, and she has to go home to that kid. I can afford to be selfish, where she can’t. I’m willing to die in there, and she can’t.”
While part of what Rousey said might have been true, there was no apparent need for her to conjure the image of a child losing her mother to a fight. ‘Rowdy’ could have simply ended on a higher note, stating she was more of a fighter and wanted the title more.
