6 Times Ronda Rousey Stirred The Pot For No Reason
2. Criticizing Octagon Girls For Risque Photos
Ronda Rousey hasn’t always played nice with the Octagon Girls—or ever.
In a 2012 Sherdog interview, she claimed, “There’s a reason why the ring girls aren’t asked to star in movies, and it’s because they’re pretty but talentless.” Was Rousey even in competition with them?
'Rowdy’ was also famous for turning down Playboy quite loudly, which was perfectly fine. She went on to reference a time when her mother warned her about licentious material and how, one day, her own children might grow up to find it. However, in the process, she brought down the Octagon Girls who had accepted such offers in the past.
Later in the year, Rousey appeared in ESPN’s Body Issue, which drew fire from Miesha Tate, who said, “It’s not okay to talk crap about the ring girls, and then get 1% less naked, and say it’s ok.”
Of course, Tate also appeared for the Body Issue later on. But as she clarified, it wasn’t about posing, it was about talking smack: “I said it was hypocritical for her to talk crap about the octagon girls posing nude in Playboy and then go pose nude for ESPN. That was my only qualm.”
