6 Times Wrestlers Tried (And Failed) To Get Fired Live On Air
2. Daniel Bryan
Now and then, WWE will have an idea that seems very vanilla but turns into something surprisingly great because of the talent involved. If nothing else, it seemed WWE crafted Talking Smack just for content’s sake; something to bolster the depth of the WWE Network.
The post-SmackDown talk show featured some incredible moments that ranged from incredibly powerful promos by The Miz, to downright hilarity from The Usos. Hosts of the show Renee Young and Daniel Bryan’s chemistry together (and with others) brought so much warmth and character to the usual rigidity of WWE.
Bryan in particular seemed to be having fun, despite the fact that during this time he was frustrated with his work life.
In a recent live show with Renee, the American Dragon revealed he was frustrated with his own belief that he was cleared to wrestle but WWE refused to use him. He was brought to TV tapings and only used for the talk show, so Bryan decided to push the envelope to see if WWE would finally ask him to leave so that he could go wrestle somewhere else.
Ranging from decreeing that “SmackDown loves fisting”, remarking on the classic “fist” TitanTron from the early 2000s, to repeatedly referring to James Ellsworth’s “giant hog” despite WWE asking him to abstain.
D-Bry turned his frustration into funny moments for the fans. He was committed to his contractual promises to Vince McMahon but, as it turns out, was hoping that they would offer him a way out.
