When someone has so much hype as Jorge Masvidal it's hard to ignore him. The BMF title holder presents an enticing opportunity for McGregor both in terms of attention and stylistically.
There is no doubt that Masvidal wants the fight with all the noise he makes during interviews, trash-talking McGregor when he has a chance, and even wearing the Louis Vuitton robe Connor himself wore for his fight against Mayweather. All the talking certainly pays off as The Notorious named a fight with Masvidal a more interesting one over the one against the welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
As an opponent, Masvidal is a formidable one with incredible striking and knockout power that he has displayed in his recent fights against Darren Till and Ben Askren. The image of McGregor and Masvidal trading blows in the center of the octagon is one that no MMA fan would pass on, so UFC doesn't need to worry about attendance on that one.
Some say that Masvidal does not pose a threat to Connor and that the Irish fighter would just walk through Gamebred but these people obviously haven't seen the clinic Jorge put up dismantling Nate Diaz in the BMF title fight. Although the fight was stopped due to an immense cut above Diaz's eye, it was completely dominated by Masvidal from start to finish.
