6 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage: Championship Friday (June 2)
2. Top Main Event & Staredown
The exact same could be said for Friday's main event.
Katsuyori Shibata vs. Lee Moriarty wasn't the greatest ROH Pure Rules match you'll ever see, but f*cking hell - it was still a really good watch, one that managed to show off a different side to Moriarty's game too. Meanwhile, Shibata's work is watertight from bell to bell. He's one hell of a worker.
A relatively short length didn't stop both men from working the three rope breaks allowed gimmick into things. That sold the relative inexperience of Moriarty in this kind of environment, because he'd naturally reach for the ropes willy nilly during submissions instead of seeking another way out.
Post-match, Daniel Garcia strolled out for a staredown with Shibata that promises another hot match to come. That'll likely happen on ROH's Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view come July 21. If so, then fans in attendance can be certain they'll see something special.
