6 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (February 7 - Results & Review)

3. Are The Young Bucks Back?!

You know what's a good idea, so much so that it's often dumb to not do it?

Wearing white attire in a match in which bloodshed is expected. While the red stuff looks all the more dangerous and visible on white, and a little goes a very long way, it's a bit contrived. The bloodshed feels like the expected and sensible thing to do, not an impulsive and gory act of hate. The Young Bucks, who are better than a lot of wrestlers considered the best, wore white suits weeks in advance of the heavy heat angle during which they beat the hell out of new World Tag Team champions Sting and Darby Allin. The Bucks - and this was a wonderful, reassuring return to the detail-obsessed days of old - added that extra bit of care to make it matter that bit more.

They were also clever enough to work their first bit of live action in front of AEW's biggest crowd of the year. The EVP bit had somewhat Being The Elite overtones. Now, through some dialled-in creative thinking and intelligent timing, this match at Revolution is starting to feel absolutely massive.

Who had the Young Bucks and CM Punk trading fortunes on their 2024 list of predictions? Matthew and Nicholas looked defeated just a month ago. Uninterested, irrelevant.

Now, as Tony Khan promised, 2024 might indeed be the new 2021.
