6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Collision (April 27 - Results & Review)
5. Welcome Debut & Acclaimed Back On Track
Grizzled Young Veterans showed up to work on Saturday.
That won't come as a surprise to anybody who enjoyed them on NXT UK or NXT a few years back. Zack Gibson and James Drake are one of the best pure/traditional tag-teams in the biz on their day, and they proved that on Collision by having one of the best debut matches a tag has ever had on AEW programming.
Both would be a neat addition to the doubles division, so it won't be a surprise if one of those #AllElite graphics is doing the rounds on social media soon. Perhaps the bigger story is that The Acclaimed got back on track after recent trios woes and eh...crap raps though. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens went back to basics on Saturday. Good.
The pair badly needed to do that, and they can be proud of this match. It debuted a brand new team (in AEW circles, at least) to viewers, and presented The Acclaimed as an act capable of ditching the nonsense when they've been backed into a corner.
Nice job, everybody.
