6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (11 May - Results & Review)

Ups...

6. Solid For What It Was

Trent Beretta
AEW

Grab a beverage and get ready for boatloads of AEW positivity from a writer who's sometimes guilty of whining that the ring skirts weren't symmetrical. Seriously though, there was a lot to like on Rampage despite those 'Downs'. In terms of actual matches, it all started with Trent Beretta vs. Dalton Castle.

Beretta is still getting his new heel run off the ground. Castle is a pretty out-there opponent for someone trying to do that, but he and Trent gelled well from the off and ended up working a solid little match. Will you remember it next week? Nah, but it helped Beretta bed into this new direction and that's cool.

He also had "CHUCK" on his wrist tape and gave a Best Friends-style thumbs up post-match to keep that story rolling. Meanwhile, on commentary, Nigel McGuinness questioned whether or not Don Callis courting Orange Cassidy proves Trent was right about his old laid-back chum all along.

Solid match + some basic storytelling = a win.
