6 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (4 Nov)

2. Laredo Soars To Turning Point

Laredo Kid will now challenge X Division Champion Trey Miguel come 20 November, having pinned Rohit Raju off a Michinoku Driver. That'll be as much of a hoot as the match in which he earned the opportunity was.

Facing Raju, Steve Maclin, and Black Taurus, the match was paced excellently. It maintained an upbeat style throughout, not going too far too soon while still being a traditional X Division four-way. Its vast array of dives were warranted as they were spaced out well enough. It was a display of lucha libre rather than a cluster. Laredo's Moonsault, as pictured above, was particularly elite.

This all worked well as, while Rohit kept a ground-and-pound-based style, Maclin switched up his usual offence, taking to the skies at one point, thus certifying the importance of the title to him. His post-match ambush on Laredo and Trey Miguel perhaps wasn't needed, given he did the same thing last Thursday too, but at least he was taken care of this time instead of rehashing a prior segment.

For now, Laredo Kid is the right choice. There's substance to a match like that, plus it's still too early for the inevitable Miguel vs. Maclin encounter. Solid booking.
