6 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Emergence 2020 (Part 2)
3. Self-Destruction
EC3 stealing Moose's TNA World Heavyweight Championship was a fine step in the right direction in his narrative, with 'The Essential Character' feeling as if it was necessary to destroy the title he had once held in order to completely remove his past from the history books.
What followed this week, however, was a tremendous promo that was helped by its equally as tremendous production quality. Talking of the July 2015 night when he pinned Kurt Angle to lift his first World Championship, the artist formerly known as Ethan Carter III mentioned how it was the last time he was ever truly happy in life. Turns out, doing nothing but flexing into mirrors and being driven through the stage by Braun Strowman doesn't quite leave a performer satisfied.
Following on from that, EC3 also said that he doesn't feel as if he's yet ready to destroy the biggest championship he's ever laid his hands on. It's understandable, of course, seeing as it's a reminder of the greatest day in his professional career. Despite this, he's fully aware that for as long as the belt remains in existence, it will control his every move, regardless of who the defending champion actually is.
Since returning at Slammiversary, EC3 is yet to actually wrestle, but he's continuously proven that he doesn't even need to, so long as he continues to deliver these promos that are second to none. When he and Moose do finally collide in the centre of the ring, it'll no doubt be worth the long wait.
