6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 7)
1. Disputed
For a team whose mantra is "shock the system," the Undisputed Era sure do lose a lot. This week's NXT saw the trio take another loss, this time to Sanity in the night's six-man main event, further painting them as one of the most ineffective groups in WWE at the moment.
Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish have experienced decent success between the ropes, and are undefeated as a regular tag team. Adam Cole, on the other hand, hasn't won a bout since WarGames. He's the group's figurehead, and as such, his lack of success trickles down to everyone else, diminishing their impact as NXT's supposed alpha stable.
It's fine presenting these guys as a big deal, but it ultimately means nothing if it isn't reflected between the ropes. Undisputed are far from buried, and WWE likely booked this outcome to set up a future Tag Title match, but at what cost? Ideally, you want the top heel group to at least project a semblance of dominance, keep them protected, and build them up for a huge fall later down the line, ensuring an almighty babyface rub for whoever topples them. That hasn't happened with Undisputed.
This is far from a major concern, but when the rest of the booking is so sublime, gripes like this stand out.
