6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 27)

1. Up - The Build Begins

NXT ended with an angry Samoa Joe - who had been told about the Nakamura match just minutes earlier - taking to the ring to voice his displeasure. He spoke about how Nakamura hadn't gone through nearly the trials he had in order to earn a shot at the NXT Championship, and as such, he wasn't deserving of the match. He offered to meet with William Regal to determine a different challenger, but bristled at his lack of input on the situation and claimed that he wouldn't wrestle "The King of Strong Style."

William Regal came out to respond to Joe, and needless to say, he wasn't having any of Joe's attitude. He said that Nakamura was the number one contender, and if Joe didn't want to wrestle him, he'd consider that a forfeit. In that case, Joe could hand him the belt right now, and he'd find someone to wrestle Nakamura for it at Back to Brooklyn. That didn't sit well with Joe, so he finally agreed to the match. He threatened Nakamura, but "The King of Strong Style" came out to stare Joe down from the ramp as the show ended.

This was a strong way to close the episode, and a strong way to begin the build to yet another NXT dream match. The bout at Back to Brooklyn looks great, and my gut says that Joe will win, though it's probably too early to tell. The next few weeks should be interesting.
