6 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (5 March)

Ups...

6. Opportunity Nox

Dakota Kai
NXT

Whether it's a simple production choice or, I dunno, something to do with the fact they're head-to-head for TV time, NXT absolutely loves a searing hot start to the show. Still though, even with the bar set as high as it is, this week's opening contest between Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai will probably go down as one of its best opening matches ever.

Full of brutal looking highspots and, for a cage match, a surprisingly unique finish, the match built on the story being told at TakeOver without ever quite going beyond it. Kai looks like one of the most vicious heels in the company, the fans are still hugely behind Nox as she failed again to get over the first big hurdle since her return, and NXT deserve huge credit for crafting a women's division storyline that isn't centered around a belt or a man.

They'll go again, most likely in this upcoming tournament, and you imagine it'll be when it really matters that Nox finally gets her win back. Either way, the story leading up to it has been great.
