6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (17 Jan - Results & Review)
Downs…
2. This Didn’t Stand A Chance
Man, it must be starting to feel like this guy just doesn't like Michin. That's not true, but she does frequent the 'Downs' on these SmackDown recaps a lot nowadays. WWE must do better when it comes to giving fans a reason to care though, and Michin's ongoing feud with Chelsea Green already feels like one issue that's well past its sell by date creatively.
B-FAB vs. Piper Niven was the odd one out on Friday's match card. It was too short to accomplish much, and it’s a strange choice to put someone like FAB (who needs reps and ring time) in such a brief loss like this one. It's hard to completely dump on the thought of B siding with Michin, but it’ll take more than this to get that story over - that's true of Michin generally, as discussed.
Look, there's an age old phrase in wrestling that veterans like to shout: 'Maximise your minutes'. Almost every worker has to deal with truncated ring time or writers who don't meet them halfway at some stage in their careers, but it's frustrating to see that happen when WWE has so much TV time to work with on these shows.
If they want people to care about Michin challenging Green again and think this sort of fare will get them there, then they need a reality check. Under normal circumstances, Piper leading B-FAB through a standard heel vs. baby match would be fine, but the company didn't give these woman a hope in hell of doing proper business.
Hmm.
