6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (6 Sept - Results & Review)
4. Energy Compensates!
Admittedly, the eight-man tag main event seemed less exciting on paper because Cody Rhodes wasn't involved, but then DIY and The Street Profits solved that with a quick backstage speech. Both teams revealed their mission statement: Stop The Bloodline from hogging all the glory in the tag ranks and stopping duos like them from living the high life.
Fair play.
The match itself was frenzied and never dull. Solo Sikoa grabbing the win made perfect sense too, although Cody not having the babyface team's back when they had his earlier in the show was a...choice. Hulk Hogan face vibes there - Rhodes didn't return the favour even though DIY and The Profits stopped him from taking a beatdown.
That puzzling lack of continuity couldn't spoil the headliner though. Everyone had their moments to shine. Johnny Gargano and Montez Ford hit cool-looking dive spots, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa looked workmanlike, Tommaso Ciampa and Angelo Dawkins similar, and Jacob Fatu's intensity stood out before Solo finished things off.
