6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Mar 17)
4. Rey Mysterio’s Heartfelt Promo
Rey has always been a better talker than some have given him credit for during an epic career of defying the odds. Think back to some of the melancholy stuff he produced opposite Eddie Guerrero in the past, or how he passionately discussed taking the fight to Brock Lesnar even though an arse-kicking was inevitable.
Daddy Mysterio dipped into that passion well again this week.
His disappointment in Dom came across as genuine, and so did comments about wanting to teach the young punk a lesson but being tortured by the fact that kid is his son. Sure, the story between these guys has been on the slow-burn pile for too long now, but payoff is coming.
Both Rey and Dominik nailed their respective characters. The former is a heartbroken father, and the latter believes carving a legacy for himself means polluting family history with his own warped self-entitlement. The result? A strong face-to-face on SmackDown.
