6 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dark (Feb 9)

1. Bomb First, Sell Later

Joey Janela
AEW

This was genuinely very good, and a cut above the usual Dark standard.

Jack Evans and Joey Janela came to drop bombs. The match began with the TH2 man springboarding over the top rope and kicking Joey in the face as he entered, then diving from the ramp. It was all big flips, dives, and bombs from there. With minimal messing around, they set a perfect tone for what will surely be a berzerk match when 'The Bad Boy' works Darby Allin on tonight's Dynamite, and really, who could ask for more than that?

Things only started slowing down a little as the bombs took their toll, though Janela and Evans were never static for long. They layered their mini-banger out using the indie style of layering pops on pops on pops and sure, Evans kicking out of the Package Piledriver was maybe a little too much, but let's not complain about an extra shot of adrenaline on a show often lacking it.

A gif-maker's dream, this one, and a real hoot.
