6 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (27 Oct)

6. Sammy Retains, Jericho Stays Defiant

Sammy Guevara Ethan Page
AEW

Sammy Guevara is thus far living up to his billing as a workrate-first TNT Champion, having entered another good performance against Ethan Page last night.

The clash of styles was the story here. Guevara was explosive and kinetic, attacking in bursts and flurries to stifle the bigger, stronger, cockier Page, who is no slouch athletically and boasts a power advantage. A lunatic spot that saw Sammy fly from the top to the outside with a Shooting Star Press was the highlight of a bout in-line with Guevara's recent outings against Shawn Spears and Bobby Fish, quality-wise.

Sammy retained, successfully keeping his belt and his spot in The Inner Circle in the process. Chris Jericho and the whole crew saved him from Scorpio Sky after the bell, before announcing the 10-man Inner Circle vs. Men of the Year/America Top Team street fight for Full Gear, with the "MMA meatsicle" representatives to be confirmed next week.

Jericho has become quite obnoxious as a babyface. His verbiage is puerile and often cringe-worthy, though this is still one of the most locked-in programs in the company right now.
