6 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jun 23)

2. What Makes A Virtuosa?

After arriving on the scene in Impact two weeks ago, Deonna Purrazzo made her official in-ring debut on this week's episode, making easy work of Alisha Edwards. 'The Virtuosa' proved to everyone here why she deserved to be at the top of a major wrestling promotion. She carries herself like a true professional, a minor personality trait but something that separates the wrestlers from the superstars.

The way she targets an opponent's arm in preparation for her trademark Fujiwara armbar shows what kind of a wrestler she is. Deonna used multiple uppercuts and legdrops to weaken the limb, but nothing comes across as vicious as that armbar. Alisha submitted nearly immediately to prevent her arm being wrenched out of its socket. Such a simple submission, but a fitting finisher for Purrazzo. Cue a 'Thicc Mama Pump' run in at the culmination of the match to continue that story arc.

Deonna doesn't need to showboat in any way. That's just one of the things that makes her so unique when compared to the rest of the Knockouts division. Hell, not just the Knockouts division, she's unique compared to the entire Impact roster. Simplicity is the key to success sometimes. With her Knockouts Championship challenge against Jordynne Grace now confirmed for Slammiversary, it'll be interesting to see whether or not Impact go all in on their newest acquisition, and place the strap on her.
