6 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (29 Jan)

2. Ciampa Taking Matters Into His Own Hands

Has Tommaso Ciampa been taking 'Smart Babyface 101' lessons from Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe as of late? That'd explain why Ciampa took out the rest of Undisputed Era with a steel pipe so he could goad Adam Cole into coming out for a little chinwag.

There was no messing about with lifeless contract signing segments here. Ciampa struck first, Cole came out to meet the challenge and GM William Regal revealed that Cole had already agreed to face anybody at TakeOver: Portland. WWE raced through their business in jig time here, and it was for the best.

The only regret might be that Tommaso aped Bray Wyatt's blood gimmick from a recent episode of SmackDown when it came to actually inking the contract. That's more forgiveable because the skit was intense, well-received and didn't eat too much time on the show. Plus, everyone knows their match will be a winner, and it's churlish to criticise build this strong for it.

Start getting excited for Cole vs. Ciampa.
