6 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's NWA Powerrr (Nov 5)

Ups...

6. The Secondary Title Feels Like A Big Deal

Much like NWA Powerrr has done in each episode to date, the show’s fifth episode once again made the NWA National Championship feel like a genuinely big deal.

When looking back at the wrestling companies of the past couple of decades, you likely have to go back to 1992 or so to see when holding a secondary title meant you were being groomed for a crack at a promotion’s biggest prize. In the NWA, however, the National Championship is treated with a level of respect and prestige that means its holder is hot on the heels of challenging for the NWA Worlds Championship.

From Colt Cabana’s show-opening promo, to how Eli Drake and Nick Aldis talked about the championship, to the Cabana vs. James Storm match itself, NWA Powerrr constantly made the National Championship feel massively important and essentially a ticket to an NWA Worlds Championship shot down the line.

Storm has carried the NWA National Championship with that sort of importance since winning the belt this past June. Now, the ball is in Cabana’s court as he looks to push forward after winning the National Heavyweight Championship for the second time.
