Goddamn, who doesn’t love The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express? Undoubtedly, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson are right up there in the conversation about the greatest tag teams in the history of the wrestling industry.

But here, in 2019, to see Morton and Gibson cleaning house against current NWA Tag Team Champions The Wildcards? Well, that’s maybe pushing things a little too far.

It’s always great to see The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, whatever the setting. It’s just the small matter of Father Time that makes it a little uncomfortable to see this legendary pairing going toe-to-toe with some of the hottest talents of today.

To reiterate, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express are as good as any team has ever been. The thing is, Robert Gibson is now 61 years of age and Ricky Morton is 63. That’s not speculation, that’s not opinion, that’s just a cold, hard fact.

While it was fantastic to see the Rock ‘n’ Roll on NWA Powerrr and in that familiar NWA setting, maybe wasn’t the best move to have them topple the NWA Tag Team Champions. Then again, for those who check out spoilers, there’s a little more still left to come from Gibson and Morton…
