6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (28 April - Results & Review)
1. The Perfect Foil For Seth
Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker as a new heel unit is going to get a lot of attention and enthusiasm from fans, so they needed a solid babyface counterweight to their act.
And Sami Zayn has entered the chat.
Zayn is almost too perfect of a person to stand up against Rollins’ new regime. He’s a virtuous babyface with a magnetism that draws fans to his side. He can garner sympathy like few can. And Sami can take a loss without losing stature. That’s what WWE needed for Seth right out of the gate.
Sami immediately called out Rollins for his BS, leaning on their friendship, which would become a theme. Rollins then tried to remove one of his group’s biggest threats in Zayn under the guise of offering what Sami wants most in wrestling – a world title match. But Sami was too good of a person to take the bait (which was more like a threat), which sealed his fate.
The night would not end well for Zayn, but it’s pretty clear that he will remain in Seth’s orbit for the foreseeable future. By turning down Rollins’ offer to leave Raw, Sami ensured that he will be part of the resistance against Seth’s new faction. That’s a pretty good start for the babyface side.
