6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (28 April - Results & Review)
3. A Good Second Showing
Last week’s unveiling of Seth Rollins’ new group garnered a fair amount of deserved praise for the reveal of Bron Breakker and the potential of a new stable like this. They instantly became the talk of the wrestling world and drew some lofty comparisons and invited fantasy booking, which is usually a good thing.
The question heading into Monday centered on how they would fare in week two. The bar to clear wasn’t that high – they needed to not screw up and advance the story – but they could also have tumbled pretty far.
Thankfully, they managed to play things pretty well, with Rollins and company opening Raw and declaring that Seth was the future of the industry, with Breakker and Paul Heyman by his side. Along the way, he encountered longtime friend Sami Zayn, who became a problem to eliminate, and that dominated the program (in a good way).
Breakker, in particular, had a good showing. During the opening segment, he locked in on Zayn and glared at him the entire time, needing to be pushed back and held at bay by Rollins. When it came time to unleash him on Sami, Seth did so, and Bron unloaded with glee, a heavy who enjoyed his work and delivered the beating with effectiveness during the main event.
This faction is still in its early stages, but they put down a top-level babyface and established themselves as a threat to the Raw roster. That’s a pretty good effort this week. Hopefully, they can continue to build on this early success.
