6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (4 May - Results & Review)

2. Judgment Day Drama Vortex

The Judgment Day has been the connective tissue that holds Raw and its storylines together for nearly 4 years now, with the group playing a pivotal role in countless stories and seemingly threatening to fall apart at the seams every other week.

But...just because the group has been an integral part of WWE programming throughout this era, that doesn’t mean that their perpetual state of distrust and drama isn’t universally beloved.

Witness Monday night in the clubhouse when Liv Morgan gave Roxanne Perez a bit of a lecture for not telling her about Finn Bálor approaching her backstage last week, thus leading to Roxanne apologising and pledging (at Liv’s insistence) to never keep secrets from the group again.

Then during a pretty bog-standard Finn/JD McDonagh match, Perez was the difference, blasting Finn with the ring bell hammer to help JD pick up the win.

As angles and matches go, none of this was really bad, but the looming weekly “can Liv trust Roxanne?” story is going to really grate when it enters its fifth month. Plus, you get the sense Bálor is going to be trapped in this vortex of feuding with his former stablemates with no real resolution for months. (He’d already beaten both male wrestlers in singles matches on consecutive nights last month but was still battling JD Monday night.)

If Finn moves on and they find an interesting way to tell the Roxy/Liv story, then this could easily become a positive, but it was a tepid “Down” this week.
