6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (7 Oct - Results & Review)

Downs…

3. A Cringy Promo

One of WWE’s biggest strengths for years has been its ability to put together incredible video packages. They’ve parlayed that strength recently into doing more pre-taped promo videos with wrestlers, which have worked as condensed bumpers after a match or segment.

However, Monday’s promo from Rhea Ripley came across more as cringe than anything else. Ripley was trying to get across that Liv Morgan bringing Raquel Rodriguez into the fold only proved that she couldn’t defend her Women’s World Championship on her own, and that she had guaranteed herself another beating from Mami.

On paper, that all sounded fine. But her delivery – with her eyes bulging out of her head and listing toward the camera – just came off as campy and weird. Ripley has been exceptional as a character for so long now that seeing this was a bit jarring. Call it a one-week blip, but it still needs to be called out and then everyone can get back to loving Rhea and everything she does.
