6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (10 May - Results & Review)

1. Nothing Else Feels All That Important

All the non-Royalty Of The Ring tournament stuff WWE is putting out there right now feels like it's happening in the background and isn't all that important. That's presumably why Triple H decided to trigger the "Champion vs. Champion" option instead of giving Cody Rhodes a proper fleshed-out rivalry that spans months.

More on that later, because there is a definite upside.

Also, where's Bayley? One of her top rivals, Tiffany Stratton, is in the Queen Of The Ring tourney, so it doesn't look like she'll be going for gold over in Saudi Arabia. Missing the next PLE is a bit sh*t for Bayley, especially because she's desperately seeking the chance to build on momentum stemming from a popular WrestleMania win.

Clearly, WWE's busy PLE schedule and all these international trips demand a dip like this, but the current landscape isn't doing much to make TV must see. It's easy to imagine a few fans have dropped off since 'Mania and are just checking results instead of tuning in.
