Ron 'R-Truth' Killings Cuts Killer Promo In Raw Return (WWE News)

Ron Killings wants some respect put on his name in WWE Raw promo.

Having made a shocking appearance at Money in the Bank over the weekend, R-Truth - well, Ron Killings - has now made his first comments since 'returning' to WWE.

Of course, the turn of this month saw Truth announce that WWE would not be renewing his existing contract, meaning his 17-year run with the company was coming to an imminent end. That news was immediately followed by an outpouring of support and love from fans and wrestlers alike, with this departure having rocked those within WWE for how cutthroat and ruthless it was to cut the beloved veteran.

Since then, R-Truth made a surprise return at Money in the Bank, attacking WWE Champion John Cena in the PLE's main event and helping to play a part in Cody Rhodes pinning Cena in the tag match pitting Rhodes and Jey Uso against Cena and Logan Paul.

For eagle-eyed fans, they were quick to notice that WWE Shop now listed 'Ron Killings' merchandise rather than 'R-Truth' merchandise, and last night's Raw saw the 53-year-old completely drop his R-Truth persona.

Appearing from the crowd, Killings stood on the Raw announce desk and said, "The truth has set me free. I am Ron Killings. I am the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Now, put some respect on my name."

While those words were impactful, arguably even more impactful was Killings using scissors to cut off his dreadlocks in a way to further shed the more jovial, light-hearted R-Truth persona. This all came after Ron talked about how everybody loves R-Truth, how he loves R-Truth, but that R-Truth can be too funny, too nice, and too forgiving.

From R-Truth To Ron Killings

In terms of using his real name of Ron Killings, this marks the first time Killings has used that moniker in WWE since an extremely brief spell as part of his return to the company in 2008. And even then, the Ron Killings name was only used in a handful of dark matches and house show appearances before taking on the R-Truth mantle. Prior to that, Ron's initial two-year run with the then-WWF between 1999 and 2001 saw him go by K-Kwik.

Away from WWE, Ron Killings had notable success in TNA - initially NWA-TNA - between those runs with the market leader, including becoming a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and having three stints as a Tag Team Champion. For those maybe not watching TNA during that time, Killings was presented as a far more serious character for the most part, and it appears that will again be the case for Ron in WWE going forward.

With John Cena now busy with CM Punk, it would appear that Ron Killings will be doing something away from Cena, though what that something is remains to be seen. Of course, WWE could always pivot back to Cena and Killings down the line.
