6. Exactly What Jordynne Grace’s Debut Had To Be
Onto to the positives, which were abundant.
Jordynne Grace squashed Alba Fyre in a short match to kick off her career on WWE’s main roster. This was exactly what her first match on the SmackDown brand needed to be. Fyre got a few spots in, and Chelsea Green got involved in the ending by being knocked off the ring apron, but this was mainly about presenting Jordynne as a force to be reckoned with. In that sense, it worked a treat.
Her confrontation with Jade Cargill last week and then the champ coming out to stare down Grace on Friday put across just how big a player Jordynne will be in the division. Wade Barrett saying: “Alpha females do not like other alpha females” was a great line that summed everything up. Now, at either the 24 January Saturday Night's Main Event or at Royal Rumble the following week, Grace can come for Cargill's title.
There's more chance of Triple H shoving that onto the SNME lineup than the Rumble show, which is fine. Bianca Belair is Jade's long-term rival anyway, surely, but Jordynne can earn some respect from the casual audience by hitting some sweet power moves on Cargill until then. She must look competitive come bell time though.
The good news is that Grace is off to a flyer on SmackDown. She comes across as someone fans should care about, just handily whipped Alba, and she has the champ's full attention. All of that collides to make these early knockings of Jordynne's main roster run worth watching.
