6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 4)

1. KO’s Selling

How good was Kevin Owens at selling those ribs?

WWE nailed the entire package on SmackDown. Commander Azeez circumventing the 'banned from ringside' gimmick by attacking Owens backstage was cool, and KO's selling was phenomenal by the time he reached the ring for his match with Apollo Crews. Also, the announcers did a sterling job of bigging up the IC Title's importance.

This was the tale of a wounded babyface trying to fight all the odds to win a championship he craves. That's simple (as well as tried-and-tested), but it's a damn effective way of booking Owens. Crews outsmarting Adam Pearce's edict was another lovely touch that helped him look conniving and clever too.

This fan could've done without Sami Zayn's post-match attack though. That Helluva Kick means their on/off rivalry looks set to continue into it's 87th chapter, and it's hard to see anyone caring about some midcard rematch at HIAC between them.

Still, even that tedious add-on couldn't cripple what KO and Crews achieved beforehand.
