6 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 1)

Ups...

6. Decent Opener

Rey Mysterio Grayson Waller

Someone sound the 'sudden chemistry' alarm, because there could be something to Austin Theory and Grayson Waller as an arrogant heel tag-team. They complement one another so well, and proved that on SmackDown by pairing up against LWO duo Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar.

The result was a tidy little opener.

It was nice to see Waller get the win, and having that come over Escobar was the right call - it wouldn't have been cool for Grayson to pin Rey when he has a title defence vs. Theory coming up at Payback. Also, booking Austin to roll up Mysterio wouldn't have added anything to their showdown anyway.

Everyone combined to turn this into a fun sprint that raced by and got the live crowd onside immediately. Look, Theory has been struggling for house room lately. There's no getting away from that, but he looked good here. So did everyone else, actually.
