6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (1 Dec)

4. The Slow-Burning Wardlow Face Turn

This is quietly one of the best things going on in AEW at the moment - and it's a shame that more people aren't talking about it.

That's likely by design. Rather than thrusting the Wardlow face turn to the forefront, bashing you over the head with overacted segments, AEW is building it gradually, month-by-month, on the undercard. Here, Wardlow smashed AC Adams in a quick squash then put his hands on his hips and sighed as Shawn Spears set upon him with a steel chair. Without doing anything as overt as snatching the chair away and preventing the totally needless attack, Wardlow demonstrated, subtly, that he doesn't have the energy for such bullsh*ttery anymore.

It was a good squash, too. Wardlow played to the crowd with powerbomb after powerbomb after powerbomb after powerbomb, pinning Adams quickly and decisively. He's often great in these scenarios and this was no different.

Expect more significant developments in this storyline should Wardlow find himself competing for a shot at MJF's Dynamite Diamond Ring next week.
