6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Beach Break (Feb 3)

1. Forbidden Door Opened?

KENTA Jon Moxley
AEW

So KENTA debuted on last night's AEW Dynamite, blasting Jon Moxley with a Go 2 Sleep ahead of their upcoming IWGP United States Title match, having intervened when Lance Archer had arrived to clear Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows from the ring.

The Bullet Club saga continues.

But you knew that already.

What's most encouraging about all of this isn't the angle itself, as hot as it was, but the potential ramfications. Last week, Jon Moxley appeared on NJPW STRONG. Kota Ibushi has been talking up the prospect of a Kenny Omega match on social media. The breadcrumb trail is right there.

These signs point towards the forbidden door between the two promotions finally flinging open. If that's the case, excellent. It's another step in the wider wrestling world coming closer together. Beyond the exciting matches and storylines that could come of it, an agreement would continue AEW's recent theme of uniting promotions like Impact and NWA on TNT, and may even help New Japan recover some of the creative heft lost in 2020, the company's worst year in a long time.

We await any announcement with baited breath.
