6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Beach Break (Feb 3)

3. Rey Fenix Lights Up The Main Event

Doc Gallows
Jon Moxley

Another good AEW multi-man tag that fell just short of greatness, PAC, Jon Moxley, and Rey Fenix met The Good Brothers and Kenny Omega in the main event, with Don Callis guesting on commentary.

A pedestrian match slumbered through its opening phases until Fenix hit the ring, lighting it up with zip and energy. This was a much-needed shot in the arm, as he was at the heart of everything that mattered in the clash, including the closing Magic Killer. With PAC neutralised via V-Trigger, Gallows was left to score the pinfall.

Callis and the other commentators did a good job of hammering home that Moxley was a lone wolf forced into a team-based environment. Gallows, Anderson, and Omega didn't have that disadvantage, so they won. Good, simple, logical storytelling, albeit not quite enough to break through the often tepid action.
