6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 28)

2. Cosplay Stings

Other wrestlers and extras started dressing up as 'Fake' Stingers way back in the WCW days. Christ, the idea was old by the time World Championship Wrestling folded in 2001, so it's more than a bit confusing that AEW thought it should be dusted off for more cosplay "fun" 20 years later.

It's so overdone.

In fairness, Darby Allin selling the ribs as he did during an opening bout with Cezar Bononi was good stuff, as was Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page scoring a win over The Dark Order. However, the lasting image AEW wanted to leave before Double Or Nothing's tag match was Sting dressing up as himself.

That was a little daft, did nothing to sell Sky or Page as crafty heels and is something fans have just seen happen waaaay too often to care. There's only so many times people can sit there and hear Tony Schiavone get giddy about Sting Halloween masks.
