6 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (3 June)
2. A Rare Skippable W. Morrissey Segment
This was odd.
Rich Swann and W. Morrissey both demanded a match with each other, so of course, Scott D’Amore allowed it. While Rich was making his entrance, though, Morrissey blindsided him, imprinting his face with a fierce boot once in the ring. The match never actually began, but it never needed to. This simply needed to be the former Big Cass decimating Swann to allow for an actual match at Against All Odds.
That’s what this was, and until a point, it was an Up. Until security intervened, followed by Willie Mack, and Morrissey left. Before Mack entered, Morrissey had gotten in the face of the security, but this wasn’t enough. The way IMPACT have booked the guy thus far, he wouldn’t have done this. He would have tried to fight back at the very least.
Now, Morrissey can’t be booked to look strong every week, otherwise it’ll be overkill and will become tiresome far too easily. This was a step too far down, though. He doesn’t look weak as a result per se, however, it has impacted him ever so slightly. It simply didn’t work in any respect other than creating a new match for the 12 June IMPACT Plus special.
