From a production standpoint, Brian Myers and Sam Beale’s skit was trash. The intro saw an old-timey text with a mid-20th Century voiceover. It didn’t work. If Myers was himself playing the character of a wrestler from this time period, then sure. He’s merely portraying ‘The Most Professional Wrestler’ role. That doesn’t mean old-timey, otherwise he wouldn’t have a somewhat extravagant entrance gear.
The actual meat of this pulled it over the line. Just.
Both Myers and Beale are decent at the comedic schtick, allowing them to work well to pull this off. Brian commented on Sam’s look, pointing out his entrance gear and happy trail body hair, before mocking his entrance without music. The former Curt Hawkins presented Beale with an official Brian Myers t-shirt – during which he looked into the camera lens and noted it’s available on IMPACT’s online shop – and made his own entrance, complete with music.
Basic, basic stuff here, but it was alright. If it means Sam Beale gets a regular role, then good. If it gets Brian Myers out of the Matt Cardona feud, then even better.
