6 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Oct 27)
2. Swann Song
Bound For Glory ended with Rich Swann standing tall over Eric Young as the new World Champion. The post-Bound For Glory edition of Impact Wrestling began with the two brawling backstage, making their way out to ringside as an impromptu World Championship match was made official.
Granted, the title bout lasted mere minutes, but it never needed to be anything special. Their pay-per-view contest was mesmerising enough to quench the fans' thirst for the much-anticipated clash. There was no way a random match on the first Impact after the event was ever going to live up to the hype their BFG bout had.
From first glance, you would never have guessed Swann had not long returned from a serious ankle injury, as he was busting out backflips, handspring cutters, and phoenix splashes like it was nothing. This is Rich's usual offence, as we know, but it's made more impressive by the fact he wrestled the entire match in nothing but a pair of dress trousers. Find someone else who can do such a thing.
'The World Class Maniac' is now without his obligatory championship rematch seeing as he's wasted it here. Where he goes from now as we near the end of 2020 remains to be seen.
