6 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's NXT (19 Feb)
3. Just Let Them Talk
It's a fairly standard wrestling convention that, after a big win at a PPV, the first thing a wrestler will do on the next episode of television is cut a promo. Fresh from snatching the NXT Tag Team Championships away from the Undisputed Era, The Broserweights fist-bumped half of the full-sail crowd before getting into the ring and picking up a microphone.
What isn't a fairly standard wrestling convention though, is for the first words out of said wrestler's mouth to be... "where's our golf cart?". Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne have, every single week, been one of the show's highlights since forming as a tag team and the continued absence of WWE's usual lame scripting in their promos means the act still works weeks after the initial joke.
"We partied har in Portland. I know Stallion Riddle partied hard, and Stallion Pete, this man is a machine, just look at him Bro. But Stallion Cup, he partied a little too hard. and unfortunately, he had failed the Wellness Policy and has been suspended 30 days."
That's a fictional account of a personified trophy hitting so many rails at a party that it's been banned from appearing on this week's show. None of the dorks writing for Raw or SmackDown have this in them.
