6 Ups & 4 Downs From NXT 401
Ups...
4. Aleister Black Is Awesome
Former indie darling Black has one of the most impressive and characterful entrances in the WWE, along with some particularly appropriate entrance music and a heavy but not too cheesy dark occultist schtick.
He looks amazing, wrestles with the right aggressive, vicious style and has so far kept a real aura of creepiness and ruthlessness about him.
Black hasn't been heard from yet, which works fine for someone whose mystique needs to be maintained but does raise the issue of how the character can develop or deepen. If Black is to become a major player in NXT and beyond, he needs a way for his character to express himself without necessarily grabbing a mic at every opportunity.
He's talked up a lot by the commentators and sold as a man who talks only in the universal language of kicking people in the face, which is a good basis to build on for now. Whether Black is the real deal or another Solomon Crowe has yet to be seen, but it's a great start.
