It’s been said before that if Raw ends on an incredibly high note, it’s easier to overlook what might have been a mediocre or even drab show and give it a more favorable rating.

If that’s true, then the inverse must also be true, which is what happened Monday night. Raw ended on such a down note (if you’re a Chad Gable fan) that it completely deflated everything that had been built up over the course of the previous three hours. It was only after looking back that it was clear WWE delivered a solid show overall.

Cody Rhodes once again stole the spotlight and had fans eating out of his hands, but Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins deserve special praise for their show-opening promo segment, where neither man wanted to give an inch. Then there was Becky Lynch, who might be still in her prime, but she gave off “old gunslinger” vibes Monday night.

Then there was a heel turn during a women’s tag match that was just piss-poor and embarrassing for WWE. If they choose to double-down on it and continue the angle unabated next week, it will say more about the company than anything else.

And then there’s Gable’s heartbreaking moment, which defies logic. But let’s get to that in due course.

Let’s get to it…
