6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (15 July - Results & Review)

Ups…

6. Rowan’s Real Grief

It’s really a shame that the Wyatt Sick6 angle with Chad Gable took place later on Raw Monday night, because they finally had a very real, relatable segment earlier in the show with Rowan.

On the now-weekly VHS tape promo, the former (and last surviving original) Wyatt Family member spoke about how he “used to have a family.” Rowan talked about losing a brother – Brodie Lee (Luke Harper) – and how he finally dusted himself off and went on with life, just to lose his other brother in Bray Wyatt. That led Rowan down a well of grief out of which he couldn’t climb – “Why would I?” – until this new family came to him.

While not a perfect video by any stretch, Rowan’s very real grief shined through here and offered a connection for fans. His pain was visible throughout the entire segment and didn’t feel forced at all. If anything, it looked more like he was fighting back some anguish. How that factors into his and the group’s desire to make an impact on WWE is the open question that still needs answering.

It’s just disappointing that an hour later, he was doing a spooky entrance to scare the new Alpha Academy off, a juxtaposition that is really difficult to pull off.
