6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (16 Dec - Results & Review)

4. New Day Disrespected

Since ditching Big E a couple of weeks ago, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have gotten the cold shoulder from everyone in WWE – crew, wrestlers, and fans alike. That only continued Monday night.

The duo found themselves unwelcome in the locker room, with Rey Mysterio being the leader to let them know that they crossed the line and needed to find somewhere else to change. Later in the show, New Day were shown still looking for a place to store their gear, and they were sidestepped in an interview due to a backstage fracas.

The disrespect and animus from wrestlers and crew would seem forced… except that New Day’s transgressions were against the universally beloved Big E. Rey saying they had crossed the line still rang true, even two weeks later. You can actually believe superstars saying, “Nah, those guys went too far. Keep them out of here.”

This is a slow burn into heeldom, and eventually they will need to really ramp things up, but if they set the table properly, this could actually be a lasting run as villains rather than a flash in the pan. And Rey being the guy to deliver the message will pay off down the line when he and Woods collide again in the ring.
