6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (23 Dec - Results & Review)

4. A Mother’s Love

New Day

Man, the New Day can’t catch a break, can they? First Dominik Mysterio scoffs at them, and then Kofi Kingston’s own mother shuns him.

Kofi and Xavier Woods came to ringside Monday (once again sans music, as they’re making fans wait to hear what New Day’s new entrance theme will be) to jaw with the announcers and once again argue with the fans about how they could have beat up Big E several weeks ago but instead just kicked him out of the group. Woods got off a great line here about how he and Kofi gave the fans “the best 10 years of your lives.”

That’s when Kingston railed against the fans for booing them after he flew his mother 20 hours (in a middle seat, no less) from Ghana to Boston to see him on Raw. Claiming that “she doesn’t deserve this,” Kofi jumped outside and offered her a hug… only for his mother to respond off-mic, “What’s wrong with you?” and refuse to embrace her son, instead leaving while Kingston stood there with arms outstretched.

Yes, the crowd sweetener was obvious here, but getting dissed by your own mother has to be a huge blow that will carry over into future weeks. The goal right now clearly is to condition the fans to boo the New Day, showing that everyone – including Dominik, and even Kofi’s mother – is against them.

Here’s hoping there are real, thunderous boos raining down soon enough.
