5. But Who’s Side Is She On?

Jade Cargill’s legit injury opened the door to an injury angle on SmackDown, triggering questions about who put her on the shelf. Given Bayley and Bianca Belair’s history – and the EST’s distrust of her former rival – the Role Model has to be a top suspect, at least in Belair’s mind. Even Naomi vouching for her could not override Bianca’s gut feeling.

The main event hijinks on Monday left fans wondering whether Bayley is in “try-hard” mode, going to great lengths – and depths – to prove her worth to the babyface team. That could be because she knows she has a mountain to climb to earn Bianca’s trust, or it could be part of a scheme to win the faces over before springing a trap at Survivor Series, ala Dakota Kai in NXT.

If Bayley was responsible for taking out Jade so she could poison the entire babyface team, she’d need to make herself indispensable to the squad. Tipping the scales in the main event could do the trick. Alternatively, Bayley has been flailing for a bit now, so this could be a desperate attempt to get back into the mix – and striking back at the woman who beat her for the WWE Women’s Championship isn’t the worst way.

There are certainly two ways to look at this, and it’s understandable if fans are conflicted on how to feel about this one.
